Iris Box is a multi-disciplinary artist who is born in Amsterdam, Netherlands (1987)

She studied photography at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague from 2006-2010. After a couple of years freelancing and starting her own commercial photo studio she decided to do her master at the Sandberg Institute (Materialisation in art and Design) from 2015-2017.

Box has always been interested in natural phenomena such as light, fog, gravity, time, water, wind and fire. Most of her works are made outdoors; places were no human influences are visible. By slightly intervene a landscape or by zooming in she shows how enchanting these natural phenomena can be. To stay close to nature she strictly works with natural materials such as; steel, clay, wax, paper, water, stones, snow, sand and clay. She tries to stay submissive, while working, while living.
Her work has been published in Hollands Diep and Volkskrant Magazine. She has done commissioned work for advertising agencies and organisations such as Nederlands Dans Theater, Pakhuis de Zwijger, Kessels Kramer, Cloudfactory, Rituals and smaller companies.
