Project Description

Fragments of Life

Sizes: 6m, 2,5 m, 3,10 m Material: glass, wood, bone, leaves, moss, clay, stone, hair and more

Fragments of Life is an installation originally created for Engelmundus Church in 2019. Most recently, it was shown in the exhibition Birdland during Kunstrai 2025 and will be featured in several exhibitions throughout this year.Inspired by the mesmerizing movement of a starling flock—a collective without a leader, moving by watching the birds next to them—this work captures both the flow of motion and the stillness of a frozen moment. The installation floats freely in space, balancing dynamic movement and quiet suspension at once. Its form embodies this tension between motion and pause, reflecting the delicate balance found in nature.
Suspended from fine threads are a variety of natural materials, each collected by the artist during her wanderings. These fragments—from lava rock and rosehips to dog hair and fish bones—carry personal traces of the surrounding environment. Together, they create a poetic whole that invites reflection on the fragile, interconnected, and transient nature of life.
