New work on BIG ART 2025 September

New work will be shown on BIG ART 2025.

The event takes place on 26,27 and 28 September during the art fair BIG ART.

This year BIG ART takes place in the Slotervaart Ziekenhuis on the top floors with a great view of Amsterdam.

The work Walk to the light, dance with your shadows and search for the stars will be shown.

Fragment of Life was in de dutch NRC newspaper.

De presentatie is bijna dramatisch tegenstelling zien tussen de liefde van de mens voor vogels en de vernieling van de natuur door die zelfde mens. Bij de ingang hangt een sculptuur van Iris Box, Fragments of Life. Aan dunnen, doorzichtige draadjes zweven tal van kleine objecten uit de natuur, zoals veertjes, reepjes schors, schelpen, stenen, braakbalen en zelfs stukjes glas. het lijkt een zwerm spreeuwen. Daar achter ontvouwd de expositie zich.

ragments of Life is installation initially designed for the Engelmundus church in 2019. By working with landscape and natural objects Box tries to understand bigger abstract natural phenomena. By rearranging the landscape she tries to help people notice nature once again. And creating a notion by humans about the temporarily and fragile state of the earth.
The shape of the work is inspired by a starling swarm and floats loose in space. Many and varied objects are tied to each thread, all of which have to do with nature. The work is personal because each part is collected during wanderings or is taken from the artist’s immediate environment. The objects therefore vary from pieces of lava rock to rosehips and from dog hair to fishbone. The whole is a literal and figurative light whole in which life is celebrated in an elegant way as well as its transience.
